Adison Shook

Meet Me

My name is Adison Shook. I have loved technology & music ever since I can remember. Currently, we believe the right hemisphere of our brain is responsible for creativity, intuition, and art. Alternatively, the left hemisphere leads in analytical and critical thinking. Music is an amazing creation as it is known to help reduce stress and boost productivity, and while it is said to be created predominantly within the right hemisphere it harmonizes with both sides of our brain!

I believe that the key to problem-solving is the ability to derive a plan based on the results you want to achieve, then acting on them in a way that best suits your needs. For example, I recently made the decision to lose some weight. When beginning this goal, I began visualizing and focusing on what I really wanted – A healthy, fit body with little to no fat. I researched a handful of diets and workout plans online and eventually chose a simple low-calorie diet and a morning exercise routine. I knew that I was basically guaranteed to lose weight, as long as I remained in a calorie deficit. Over the next few months, my simple low-calorie diet evolved into a more refined balance of proteins/carbs/fat, then into plant-based diet to help shed even more pounds.

We must not only possess the ability to identify problems or issues that cause us to be unhappy, but also master the science of transforming them into a more fulfilling reality for us and those around us!

Favorite Quotes & What They Mean To Me

“Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space lies our freedom and power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and freedom.” – Viktor E. Frankl

Recognizing your emotions, and understanding how they impact your behavior, is a vital piece of the puzzle in reacting appropriately to the different circumstances life can throw at us. It is clear that we have the power to choose our own responses to various encounters, but to do so under tense situations requires a certain degree of emotional intelligence. We must learn to stay calm and choose the right response, one that is constructive and useful for the situation at hand. Next time you’re in a stressful encounter, practice taking the time to recognize and take control of that pause between provocation and reaction, and reply with the aim of improving the situation for every person involved.

“Awareness is all about restoring your freedom to choose what you want instead of what your past imposes on you.” – Deepak Chopra

Consciousness and awareness comes from your ability to care and learn. We all have the ability to be mindful and aware, which allows us to continue to change our lives for the better. The decisions we make on a daily basis determine our destiny, and better awareness leads to better choices, which leads to better results! Once you are constantly making strong daily choices to support the life you want to live, you will drastically improve your ability to accomplish your dreams and have a drastic impact on the world. Remember to focus on improving your level of awareness to help optimize your daily decisions!

“The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today.” – Franklin D. Roosevelt

The way you think has a much larger impact on the world than we could possibly realize. Your doubts, hesitation, and self-limiting beliefs, are the ONLY thing preventing you from reaching the future we want. If we believe a goal is unattainable or an idea will not work, we sabotage our potential by not giving it our best effort – this leads to poor results. The stronger your belief is about something, the more power you have at our disposable to either boost or cripple this possibility. Next time you want to achieve something, remember to invest your focus and energy into your outcome and make daily decisions that keep you in sync with your goal.

“Happiness is a butterfly, which when pursued, is always just beyond our grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.” – Nathaniel Hawthorne

By default, our brains are not designed to make us happy – they are designed to help us survive. As a result, it is very easy to end up worrying about the small things in life, but doing so can prevent us from seeing the beauty in everyday life. If you can train your mind to enjoy each moment, then you will find it much easier to think and interact with others, as your mind will view problems from a different place than if you were feeling weak, tired, or upset. When pursuing a goal, remember that you don’t have to wait to experience the feelings that will eventually grant you the happiness you desire. What you feed your mind is what you become. Truth be told, feeling happy and fulfilled on the way to achieving your goals is just as important as accomplishing them.

“Our destiny is not written for us, it’s written by us.” –Barack Obama

People are driven by many different things – some by personal growth and their need to understand the unknown, others by contributing and giving back in some way, and some people are driven by their desire for love and intimacy. Remember, the decisions that you make today are what determines your destiny. It is vital that you always maintain an open mind in striving to obtain your personal goals, as this will help you identify and refactor the things holding you back. Whether it is scheduling time to read a book, eating healthier meals, giving to those in need, or being more devoted to your partner, all of these are decisions that will either benefit you or delay you from reaching your full potential.

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.’” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Society will constantly tell you what you should be or what you can’t do. You must unlearn the limiting beliefs that restrict your state of mind and prevent you from showing the world what makes you unique. There will always be a force that tries to make us conform, as people are more comfortable with what they are familiar with. Never change who you are just because someone else has a problem with it – their criticism does NOT matter. Do not conform! Do not lose your originality! Do not lose your creativity and other traits that make you the extraordinary person you are today! Stay true to yourself and will find true peace and happiness.

“Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.” – Carl Brand

After beginning a new goal (ex. quitting an addiction like smoking/drinking), it is critical that you remain focused on the results of our goal. One technique you can use to help stay dedicated to your results is to really grasp and understand the negative impacts your addiction – you may consider the amount of money you spend on booze, the hangovers the next morning, the increased risks of illnesses like liver/heart disease, or the way it affects your mood and behavior towards loved ones. While these consequences are not pleasant to think about, that is actually the WHOLE POINT! They should be disturbing enough to drive your negative actions in the opposite direction! A circle of trusted family and friends or support group who want the best for you can also provide a much higher chance of success due to the support they provide.

“Your economic security does not lie in your job; it lies in your own power to produce—to think, to learn, to create, to adapt. That’s true financial independence. It’s not having wealth; it’s having the power to produce wealth.” –Stephen Covey

One of the most sought after qualities in truly wealthy people is self-discipline. You must learn to think WITHOUT being emotionally charged and maintain control over your joys, desires, and greed when budgeting money. You have the ability to choose your own thoughts, and you can change how you feel just as quickly as you can change your focus. Never place joy, desire, and greed above your thinking!
